Travel Medicine
Did you know the most common complaint from travellers to foreign countries is traveller’s diarrhoea? Do you know how to reduce your chances of getting a mosquito-borne disease? We can help with advice on how to minimise these and other risks. In our travel consults, we focus on health promotion and prevention, including:
- travel vaccinations – vaccinations are only a small element of any travel consult. And your medical history must be taken into account prior to any immunisations. We can vaccinate you for the following:
- Yellow fever – we are an accredited Yellow Fever clinic
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- Typhoid
- Influenza
- Chicken pox
- Meningococcal disease
- Rabies
- Tetanus
- up to date travel information to prevent illness/disease we cannot vaccinate against – it is important to be aware of the latest WHO (World Health Organisation) recommendations for travel to any part of the world. We have access to this as well as all the latest outbreak information for your destination
- malaria prevention
- education and awareness of the local culture or region to help prevent accidents and injuries
Remember to book an appointment well in advance of your trip – 6-12 weeks before is ideal. You may need a number of doses of a particular vaccine and you might need time after immunisation for your body to develop full immunity.
