June is National Burns Awareness Month with the aim of creating greater awareness amongst the Australian community of burns prevention and correct first aid treatment for burns. National Burns Awareness Month is an initiative of Kidsafe, Australia’s leading community organisation dedicated to child injury prevention and is held in June each year due to the significantly increased risk of burns during winter. Below is a quick first aid guide for minor burns – for major burns please commence first aid measures and seek urgent medical review. For more information about keeping your child safe from burns in the home please read this checklist.
